Welcome to Simple SoapCalc. By accessing or using our services, including our mobile application and ChatGPT integration, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Simple SoapCalc, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Simple SoapCalc is a mobile application and ChatGPT integration that provides:

• Soap recipe calculation tools (NaOH, KOH, and hybrid lye types)
• Oil selection and percentage management
• Blend suggestions (Blend Advisor)
• Recipe import from photos, screenshots, text, and QR codes
• Workshop mode for step-by-step soapmaking (Make Soap)
• Additive tracking (fragrances, colorants, clays)
• Custom liquid support (goat milk, beer, etc.)
• Adjustable lye purity, master batch lye, and citric acid calculations
• Recipe storage, sharing, and cloud synchronization across devices

3. Account Registration

To use Simple SoapCalc, you must:

• Be at least 13 years of age
• Provide a valid email address
• Create a secure account through email, Google, or Apple sign-in
• Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

4. Subscription Tiers

Free Tier

• Store up to 3 recipes (on device)
• Full lye calculator (NaOH, KOH, hybrid)
• 10 lifetime photo imports
• 10 lifetime Blend Advisor uses
• With a free account: additive tracking, custom liquids, adjustable lye purity, master batch lye, and citric acid

Pro Tier

• Unlimited recipe storage
• Cloud sync across devices
• Unlimited photo imports
• Unlimited Blend Advisor suggestions
• Make Soap workshop mode
• All Free tier features
• Priority support

5. In-App Purchases

Pro subscriptions are available through Apple App Store or Google Play Store:

• Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, not Simple SoapCalc
• Pricing is set by the respective app store and may vary by region
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
• Refunds are subject to Apple's or Google's refund policies
• You can cancel your subscription at any time through your app store account settings
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period

6. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the app for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Share your account credentials with others
• Upload malicious code or viruses
• Abuse the photo import feature with excessive or automated requests
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations

7. Intellectual Property

Simple SoapCalc and all related content, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Your Recipes: You retain all rights to the recipes you create. By using the app, you grant us a license to store and sync your recipes to provide the service.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

IMPORTANT: Simple SoapCalc is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees about:

• The accuracy of soap calculations
• The safety or quality of soap made using our recipes
• The suitability of recipes for any particular purpose
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the app

Safety Notice: Soap making involves working with lye (sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide), which is caustic and can cause serious burns. Always:

• Wear protective equipment (gloves, goggles, long sleeves)
• Work in a well-ventilated area
• Verify all calculations independently before making soap
• Follow proper soap making safety procedures
• Keep lye and raw soap away from children and pets

Simple SoapCalc is a calculation aid only and does not replace proper soapmaking training or safety education.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Simple SoapCalc and its creators shall not be liable for any:

• Injuries or damages resulting from soap making
• Calculation errors or recipe inaccuracies
• Loss of data or recipes
• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Loss of profits or revenue

You use Simple SoapCalc at your own risk and accept full responsibility for verifying all calculations and following safe soap making practices.

10. Data Backup and Loss

While we strive to keep your recipes safe:

• We recommend keeping backup copies of important recipes
• We are not responsible for data loss due to technical issues, account deletion, or service interruptions
• Recipe sync requires an active internet connection

11. Service Modifications

We reserve the right to:

• Modify or discontinue features at any time
• Change subscription pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers
• Update the app to fix bugs or add features
• Temporarily suspend service for maintenance

12. Account Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account if you:

• Violate these Terms of Service
• Engage in fraudulent activity
• Abuse the service or other users

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion:

• All your recipes are permanently deleted
• Your subscription continues until you cancel it separately through your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings
• This action cannot be undone

13. Third-Party Services

Simple SoapCalc integrates with third-party services:

• Supabase - Authentication and database hosting
• RevenueCat - Subscription management and purchase validation
• Google Sign-In - Authentication provider
• Apple Sign-In - Authentication provider
• PostHog - Analytics
• Anthropic (Claude API) - Reading imported recipes and writing suggestions
• OpenAI - ChatGPT integration for recipe calculations

These services have their own terms and privacy policies, which you should review. When using Simple SoapCalc through ChatGPT, your use is also subject to OpenAI's Terms of Use.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of the applicable jurisdiction.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

• Posting the updated Terms on this page
• Updating the "Last updated" date
• Sending an email notification for material changes

Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
